I also think there is information overload, engine cams, locker cams, stern cams, you are changing your boats into a big white X box. Maybe I am just old fashioned about this. I am not immune to travelling fast on mobo's, or travelling in conditions that are rather bouncy. be honest, it is nothing to do with information (number 6) but big boys toys, that's fine, but at least be honest about it. I am not talking the radar here, but having essentially a glass cockpit. I well crafted dial will give far better information than any screen. You drive a vehicle at 85 without crashing, I don't go for this reasoning at all.
A sextant, compass, sounding line, hourglass and chip log may be fine at 5 knots with "power gives way to sail", but on a mobo you want more info, in real time.
